SANTI DAS MEMORIAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (2026)

1. Introduction (About the Award)

The "Santi Das Memorial Achievement Award" was initiated to remember and honor a dedicated veteran librarian Late Santi Das, the founder librarian of Sibsagar College and Librarian (i/c) of Dibrugarh University as well as the founder Secretary of ‘Sadou Asom Lekhika Samiti’, Dibrugarh Branch. She worked tirelessly and with great passion for Library and Information Science (LIS), helping and changing many lives. To keep her memory alive, her daughter Ms. Sudakshina Das Bordoloi and family started this award in 2023. It is given once every two years to honor outstanding women library professionals in Assam.

2. Award Overview & History

First Awardee (2023): Ms. Chaya Sutradhar (Former Librarian, Women’s College, Tinsukia).

Launch Date: 22nd April, 2023 at Dibru College, Dibrugarh

1st Initiative taken by: Ms Dipika Das, Librarian, Dibru College, Dibrugarh

3. Components of the Award

The recipient of the award will be conferred with:

• A formal Citation detailing her achievements

• A traditional Shawl

• A traditional Xorai (symbol of respect and gratitude)

4. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the award, a candidate must strictly fulfill the following requirements:

Gender: Female

Age: Must be above 50 years of age at the time of nomination

Regional/Professional Scope: Must have rendered exceptional, impactful service and contributions specifically within the Library and Information Science (LIS) field of Assam.

5. Selection and Nomination Process

The selection process is built on merit, transparency, and peer recognition. 

Invitation for Nominations: Formally signed nomination or recommendation letters are invited from institutional heads, LIS peers, or academic professionals. 

Jury Evaluation: All received valid nomination/recommendation letters will be systematically compiled and placed before an independent, specially constituted Jury Board. The decision of the Jury Board regarding the final awardee will be absolute, binding, and final.

• Detailed Bio-Data / CV of the Nominee.

• Recommendation Letter (Max 500 words) detailing her exceptional contributions, leadership qualities, innovations, or impact on the LIS field in Assam.

• Age Proof Document (PAN Card / Aadhaar Card / Service Book excerpt).

To keep the selection process systematic and professional.

• Issue of Notification / Call for Nominations: June 18, 2026

• Last Date for Submitting Nominations: August 18, 2026

• Scrutiny of Applications & Jury Board Meeting: September, 2026

• Official Announcement of the 2026 Awardee and Award Conferral Ceremony: October 3, 2026
